advice on how best to apply in the US

hi! i am a 2nd courser nurse who graduated march 2006 and already passed NCLEX. i would also want an honest opinion from any of you about the possibility of going to the US as a tourist and applying directly to the hospitals. also, if at the rate of retrogression now, would it be wise if i accepted an H-1C visa job offer in McAllen Texas?
